About

Our Mission

ICCS Press publishes high-quality literature across digital and print platforms in a range of academic fields, with a special focus on Early Christian Studies. We exist to make the wisdom of the early church — its theology, history, and spiritual practice — accessible to scholars, students, pastors, and thoughtful readers today.

Who We Are

ICCS Press is a joint venture of the Institute for Classical Christian Studies and the Center for Early African Christianity (CEAC).

The Institute for Classical Christian Studies was formed in 1993 to support and promote the study of early Christian literature, alongside the highly acclaimed Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture (ACCS). The Center for Early African Christianity, dedicated to the study of early Christianity in Africa, emerged after fifteen years of research and editing on the ACCS.

Together, these two bodies give ICCS Press its distinctive character: rigorous scholarship rooted in the primary sources, paired with a conviction that the ancient Christian voices still speak to the church and the world today.

What We Publish

Our catalog ranges from major scholarly reference works — such as the Historical Atlas of Ancient Christianity and Ancient Christianity: The Development of Its Institutions and Practices — to accessible devotionals, the We Believe series on the Nicene Creed through ancient African Christianity, and the annual Chadwick-Oden Lectures. Whether in hardcover, paperback, or eBook, every title reflects our commitment to serving both the academy and the church.
